Thailand PM admits police may be executing
suspects
Thailand's Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has admitted for
the first time that police may be executing criminal suspects.
More than 1,100 people have been killed during a crackdown on drug
trafficking in the Kingdom.
In his weekly radio address to the nation, Thaksin Shinawatra conceded
police have made mistakes during an official three-month campaign to
eradicate illicit drugs from the country.
For the first time, he admitted what he called "bad officers"
may be carrying out extra-judicial killing.
The death toll for February alone was 1,128.
There are still two months left in the official eradication campaign.
Amid mounting criticism from human rights groups, the Government now says
it will not be providing further updates on casualty figures.
