uname -a
Linux gombert 2.6.11.7 #1 Fri Apr 15 05:53:57 CEST 2005 i586 GNU/Linux

The problem started after I moved disks from one computer to another and
updated the kernel. So it could be kernel-related. The existing loader works
and was installed on the same computer with lilo on a 2.6.10 kernel compiled
for a Pentium classic.
