Package: gdm
Version: 2.20.7-4
Severity: normal

Hello,

I noticed the shell I run has too much open descriptors. Further checking indicates the extra file descriptors (5 and 7) point to a pipe opened by gdm. See the attached file for details.

Regards

So my guess is this is the pipe created by gdm to log stuff to
.xsession-errors indirectly, instead of having that file as the
session's stdout and stderr directly. Not sure why your shell or
terminal remaps them to 5 and 7, but in any case this doesn't look like
an actual leak. (I find it quite annoying how gdm decides to limit the
output of the session to 80*2500 bytes, especially considering the crap
that average gnome apps spew to standard file descriptors, but that's a
different problem.) Anyway, closing this bug.

Cheers,
Julien
