Sorry, I don't know if this bug is assigned correctly. Feel free
to reassign.

Since some days I cannot use my HP Scanjet 4c (Squeeze)

scanimage as user does not detect it while the scanner is detected
if scanimage is run as root:

,----
| nieh...@ceramic:~$ scanimage -L
| device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname BT878 video (Hauppauge (bt878)) virtual
device
| device `hpaio:/net/PSC_1500_series?ip=192.168.0.28' is a Hewlett-Packard
PSC_1500_series all-in-one
| nieh...@ceramic:~$ su
| Passwort:
| ceramic:/home/niehaus# scanimage -L
| device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname BT878 video (Hauppauge (bt878)) virtual
device
| device `hp:/dev/sg0' is a Hewlett-Packard C2520A flatbed scanner
| device `hpaio:/net/PSC_1500_series?ip=192.168.0.28' is a Hewlett-Packard
PSC_1500_series all-in-one
| ceramic:/home/niehaus#
`----

There is no /dev/scanner. Permissions of the SCSI devices are:

,----
| ceramic:/home/niehaus# ls -aFl /dev/sg*
| crw------- 1 root root 21, 0 27. Okt 09:13 /dev/sg0
| crw------- 1 root root 21, 1 27. Okt 09:13 /dev/sg1
| crw------- 1 root root 21, 2 27. Okt 09:13 /dev/sg2
| crw-rw---- 1 root cdrom 21, 3 27. Okt 09:13 /dev/sg3
| crw------- 1 root root 21, 4 27. Okt 15:41 /dev/sg4
| ceramic:/home/niehaus#
`----

The scanner is detected as /dev/sg0 by (a slightly modifies) rescan-scsi.sh

The scanner worked fine and stopped working one or two weeks ago. I did
the updates on my testing / Squeeze system but cannot remember to have
changed anything else which might be relevant for this problem.

Do you have any Ideas where I might search for a solution?
Need more information? Feel free to ask.

Thanks,

Sebastian
