Package: debhelper Version: 12 Severity: wishlist Please release the first version of each major debhelper not as “12” but as, for example, “12.0”.
Rationale: backporting. When backporting 12.0 it will be versioned 12.0~bpo9+1, when backporting 12 it will be versioned 12~bpo9+1. Version constraints normally read like: debhelper (>= 12~) Only 12.0~bpo9+1 fulfills this criterium, 12~bpo9+1 doesn’t. This was a _real_ problem when debhelper 11 first entered stretch-backports.
