Let's wait for Brian and Kurt to take a look.
In the meantime, maybe it is worth checking if compiling the file in question
(pbeta.c, if I recall) with -O1 and/or -O0 also works? We sometimes had
this with Fortan code on arm, m68k, ... where lower optimisation worked
whereas aggressive -O2 lead to errors.
