  Your log said that the following:

> fmtutil: running `etex -ini   -jobname=jadetex -progname=jadetex &latex 
> jadetex.ini' ...

  This is a bit strange.  If you are using the newest
40jadetex.cnf, this line should be like this;

> fmtutil: running `etex -ini   -jobname=jadetex -progname=jadetex jadetex.ini' 
> ...

  So please send me 40jadetex.cnf.  The newest one should contain
the following lines

jadetex etex    language.dat    jadetex.ini
pdfjadetex      etex    language.dat    pdfjadetex.ini
