OK, than it seems that the configuration of uswsusp was successful. But

OK, that error message is harmless I think.

So after `snapshotting system' nothing happened, no messages?

So it was basically a hard reboot, it did not resume, right? 

Anything out of the ordinary about your system? It is a dual core
processor, right?

Well. I think this should just work, but before we try to debug this
further, could you try with a more recent kernel. Etch' kernel is
2.6.18, but we also have 2.6.21 in the archive.
