How to reproduce: Install a woody chroot with fetchmail (which depends on fetchmail-common). Retarget apt at sarge. apt-get -f dist-upgrade will not upgrade fetchmail because this involve removing fetchmail-common. aptitude install fetchmail -f will propose to fix that. Solution: Use 'aptitude dist-upgrade' instead. This will remove fetchmail-common for you. 'aptitude dist-upgrade' is the recommended way to upgrade to sarge.
