Well, there is no IPv6, and there is no domain, i.e. the output of "hostname" is the same as the output of "hostname --fqdn". But none of those things are good reasons for a package build to fail. Also, my machines are single-cpu. Some packages have tests with race conditions which fail on single-cpu with a certain probability and also fail on multi-core systems with a very different probability. Maybe this is one of those cases. If you have a multi-core machine, you can try dpkg-buildpackage prefixed by "taskset -c 0". This emulates a single-cpu system. Thanks.
