1. Build from sources under the watchful eyes of checkinstall 2. Use apt-pinning and apt-get from unstable. Since you guys understand all the library/dependency stuff I thought I'd ask what might be the safest/best way to upgrade to 1.8.4. I'd appreciate your guidance and wisdom, Thanks, bakki
