This has been mentioned again.

Additional comment by Ross:

We have agreed in principle that we make the move whilst restructuring for
forrest:views, the question is how?

Additional comment by me (Gavin):

How many people are working on this?

Nobody is currently working directly on this. It is a very big job which requires an overhaul of the code and the stylesheets (hence the desire to do it as part of the forest:views work). All our docs will need an overhaul too.

Someone needs to start driving this forwards, we need a plan as to how we tackle this very big job, it's not as simple as it seems on the surface and needs some careful thought. It's also not something that can be tackled in isolation, we need a few people able and willing to commit to doing the work.

Here's what I think is required (off the top of my head whilst the cricket is rained off, this is in no way complete or well thought out):

- agree the subset of XHTML2 to be used
- create DTD's
- convert all forrest:contracts to accept XHTML2 as input rather than XDoc
- convert forrest:views to work with XHTML2
- xdoc to XHTML2 stylesheet
- create XDoc input plugin
- convert all sitemaps to work with new XHTML source files
- document migration process
- document internal format

So, what have I missed?

Ross
