I believe this is another fundamental flaw with Maven. The official release of a product like Geronimo is always the zip/tgz, never the artifacts which are pushed to some transient repository (and yes they are all transient since they keep falling down and loosing stuff). Since everything in Maven is an artifact, then essentially our use of Maven makes every file in Geronimo a release distribution... and really don't think that is appropriate.
