Jacek,
You are correct that if you change the feature.xml to use 2.0.0 this will break 
if you try and run this on any Eclipse that does not run Web Tools 2.
I'm no Eclipse expert but if the new Geronimo 2.0 plug in really does rely on 
WTP 2.0 there will need to be 2 versions one for WTP 1.5 and one for WTP 2.0. 
If the Geronimo 2.0 plugin can happly live and work under WTP 1.5 you could 
change the featur.xml to
<import feature="org.eclipse.jst" version="1.5.0" match="greaterOrEqual"/>
How does that sound?
