And if they did and they got caught, their company would essentially be destroyed. Proprietry software developers in general do *not* reverse engineer other companies intellectual property. Hell, just try selling software you have developed to IBM and deal with the huge battery of COO (Certificate O Ownership) issues before IBM will accept your product! These companies take intellectual property very seriously, indeed even more seriously now with the SCO lawsuit; now I am glad we have all the COO's in place already and I am sure IBM is too.
