Multiple columns highlighted as sorted with external sorting

This occurs against 1.2 but I wasn't able to select that in the issue. I
haven't checked to see if this happens agains 1.1.1.
When using external sorting and the default sorted column is before the column
that you'd like to sort, both columns end up highlighted.
