A thoroughly enjoyable evening. Following on from conversations I had with various people last night, here's my notes...
- Eclipse IDE current version is 3.6 (Helios) but Ubuntu 10.10 comes with 3.5 (Galileo) in repositories so this is what I use. - I have found a (free) app for FixMyStreet on the Android market (to report problems to local council directly from phone). I haven't tried it yet so not sure how good the app is. - Google unveiled Android 3.0 aka Honeycomb at a press conference today as well as a web version of the Android Market http://market.android.com/ - Nokia rumoured to ditch MeeGo for Android at "change of strategy announcement to investors on 11th Feb" - Fortress programming language "A language designed for high-performance computing (HPC) with high programmability for the scientific programming community" http://projectfortress.sun.com/Projects/Community Fortress project originated at Sun and is led by Guy Steele (author of the Lambda Papers, that led to the design of Scheme; also involved with standards committees of several programming languages, including C, Fortran, Common Lisp and Java) - Maths Mark-up Language (MathML): MathML 3.0 was released as a W3C Recommendation on 21 October 2010 and its goal is to render mathematical symbols on the web. Current browser support: http://www.mrholloman.net/faq/mathmlfixes.htm - Google Labs Body Browser http://bodybrowser.googlelabs.com/body.html On 1 February 2011 00:48, Ralph Corderoy <ra...@inputplus.co.uk> wrote: > > Hi, > > Short and sweet.
