Hi Dave,
This is 100% not a windows problem but the order you start all programs.
I use Win4Icom and Com-0-Com also even via remote.
DX4WIN is based on delphi and needs exclusive serial port(s)
Startup Win4Yaesu with the radio connected and make sure the setup is perfect.
Make two pairs of Com-0-Com
The 1st pair should be for DX4WIN at max 38400 Baud even if your radio can go
higher.
Be sure that the rigdriver in dx4win has the same baudrate, if not then change
it.
The 2nd pair should be for WSJT-X also at max 38400 Baud.
If for any reason wsjtx build in rigdrivers are not perfect use omnirig v1.18
(this one works perfect newer have also glitches on some computers)
Start
WIN4YAESU
Wait until all is ready
Start
DX4WIN
If radio is connected
Then
Start
WSJT-X
Shutdown in reverse order
Can be setup in WIN4YAESU

Second option is if your radio has USB and also a SERIAL port
To setup the radio with via serial port to DX4WIN, but make sure
You use FTDI based USB to serial cable if no serial port is available
Most of the other usb2serial is crap.

Subject: [Dx4win] Problem since upgrade to W10/W11

Everything worked smoothly with W7. The problem started with a new W10
computer which very quickly updated itself to W11 without any input from me, so
I am not absolutely sure whether the problem existed in W10 as well as it being
a problem now with W11. It is a minor nuisance rather than a serious problem.

When I start DX4Win I get a box come up "ie-Open device already open" I click
OK then a second box comes up "Radio error number 1 Press help for details"
The help advises that the serial port is i use and to select a different port
or use another device. If I just close the second box DX4Win then starts
normally.

I use Win4Yaesu and Com-0-Com for rig control and virtual port sharing to
enable me to use both DX4Win and WSJT-X (or JTDX)

Any suggestions on a) how to cure this annoyance or b) what further digging I
can do to find the cause to help identify a cure?

Dave G3UEG
