I added this to /var/lib/tftpboot/ltsp/i386/lts.conf:

[default]
    # Limit the max screen resolution.
    X_MODE_0 = 1024x768

and that seems to limit the resolution.  Otherwise it starts at
at a very high resolution (which would be a bandwidth killer, I
suspect).

But, users can still change their screen resolution in the GNOME
System/Preferences/Screen Resolution settings -- something I
wonder about since it then travels with them to other thin clients.

I also noticed that when I start up my wide-screen laptop that the
1024x768 limit is not used any more and can select the full resolution
supported by the LCD display.
