Wayne,
I've been running 80 only with my center fed inverted L. I've
managed to worked some of Europe and South America as well as the usual
US and Canadians. However, the population of contesters on 80 appears to
be much lower than on 40 and 20. And, that's unfortunate as 80 seems to
be open also.

Subject: [Elecraft] CQ WPX CW contest going on right now, through
tomorrow; lots of great DX!
Hi all,
In case you didn’t know about it.... Check out the CW bands tonight and
tomorrow. They’re on fire with stations operating in the “WPX” contest.
I’m hearing tons of DX stations on 20 and 40 m, and earlier today there
was plenty of activity on 15 m as well. Full info at:
http://www.cqwpx.com/rules.htm
You can operate casually in this contest if all you want to do is work
some new countries or states, test your antennas, try a new rig, etc.
The exchange is just a signal report and “serial number” (incrementing
QSO number, starting at #001). Some stations are already approaching
1000 contacts, and it just started earlier today.
Have fun!
Wayne
