Yep. That's what fooled me. I just assumed the center post would be the hot
connection since one normally arranges things to touch only grounded parts.
(Normally doesn't always mean always...).

Might produce some interesting results if there's significant RF around when
touching them.

Well, actually, those clever paper clip paddles will only operate iambic if
you use the center post as ground.  That puts the part your fingers touch at
positive potential.  Probably not an issue, but I'd feel a bit better if the
finger pieces were ground.  That would require the center piece to become 2
pieces.

And, boy is that design ever clever!  Very impressive.
