Hi, I have a 4 X 8 router I scratch built, A HF round column mill I converted, a small HF lathe with gang tools, a small HF mill, and a HF press brake/shear/ roll that I converted to an air powered brake with cnc back gage and an encoder to control bend angle.
All the pictures I have posted so far are of my router and the baby mill on these CNC Zone threads. http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37510 http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38310 So that's my last year, compulsively building CNC machines with Ebay steppers and drives. I was using Mach3 with windows until I got pissed off at windows and tried out EMC2. I have spent the last month learning about Linux and have begun using EMC/Axis on the round column mill. Finally started cutting a part tonight. Spent a good bit of time getting the coordinate systems zeroed so I could actually cut instead of alternately plunging right through my material or air cutting. That's some fun and excitement right there, driving a 3/8 inch endmill right through an inch of aluminum. At any rate, I have been enjoying the list and alternately loving and hating the learning curve! I am having some issues but I am slowly working them out, I think. One big issue for me is the Ubuntu Linux file system. I don't know where all the EMC files are. I was hoping to get some pointers on customizing Axis a bit. In Particular changing the layout and adding some more buttons.
