Here is my effort at what we should discuss this meeting. Again,
try to be brief, we want to get out of here in an hour or less.
somebody point me at the url with the ircs logs, please.
Good luck, have fun, and thank you for all your efforts,
Laura
1. Decisions from last meeting, confirm date/venue
2. Assign responsibilities and build teams, for example:
* Budget -- This I have to be on. I'd like help.
* Talks -- I'd like Samuele to be in charge of these
* Core website (ie wiki)
* Registration etc website
* Sponsorship -- Jacob Hallén who is also busy tonight at the same
event as I am has volunteered for this.
* Publicity -- can we use some of the PyCon stuff? Do we want to?
* Sprints
* Get keynote speakers
anybody got any ideas of who would be interesting?
* any themes we should try to push for this conference?
*** DOES ANYBODY KNOW ARLO BELSHI'S PHONE NUMBER?
(We owe him money; I don't know how to send it to him; and
my repeated email to him has not generated a response.)
* Venue booking: rooms and food
food at the conference was #1 complaint last year. Not enough, and
not enough quality. they hated the sandwiches.
* Conference dinner
This they loved. Try to duplicate what we had last year.
* Swag (tee shirts etc)
coordinate with sponsoring
* Signage
* Accommodation
3. Timetable
Announce
Call for abstracts
call for refereed papers
Early bird cut off
Student rate == 1/2? == same as early bird rate
Early students at 1/4?
Check with budget to determine price we need to charge. We had lots of
students last year, and that was good.
Worldpay -- I will report next week. It's complicated.
