We have found that having ANY opt-in or opt-out adds a huge effort to
volunteers (irregardless of AV recording).
To date we have less than 50% of the forms for any talks. This despite
a massive effort to prevent this.
In the end we are doing away with it completely as anyone who does not
want their talk shared, should not be giving it at a community
conference.
I say this as someone who signed the opt-out form for my lightning talk.

Of course. I was just giving my opinion. Frankly EuroPython should be
very different than PyCon US. Having them be the same would be to the
detriment of the community.
With that said, you should not just toss out an Idea or opinion just
because it came from PyCon US.

True, but if you have people who want this bad enough you should not
stop them IMHO. Just make sure they know what they are in for.
We were not going to do the AV recording, but we had volunteers who
wanted to make it happen. The other option was not having those
volunteers help out (they were not interested in any of the other
work). The end result is they ended up helping out with other things
as well and we are better off for having them.
