Far from it, we are still four months away from EP 2009, and like last year you'll find that it gets quite busy nearer the time. > almost in direct contradiction to > getting more people involved: you effectively cut off everyone who knew > about the old list and didnt know about the creation of the new list. > There's also very little on the EPC website saying "the mailing list lives > here!", Not true. look again. If you think it can be improved, you are able to edit the wiki. > and the irc channel is fairly dead too. We use the IRC channel for meetings, currently the main meeting is every other Tuesday, the next one in next Tuesday. Also we had a lengthy meeting of the Talks subcommittee last Saturday. I don't know what else you expect. > >> It's probably fair to say that in recent years there has been little >> involvement from the delegates in helping run EP, and we're trying to >> do something about it. > > The problem is that, for example, in my case, I go to the conference to > catch up with people I don't get to see the rest of the year. Yes. But we're likely to be very flexible about this (shhh, I didn't day that)., We've set an earlier deadline than usual because we want to publish talk abstracts earlier so people know what they're signing up to. It's been pretty successful as well, but we're likely to continue accepting good talks and tutorials for as long as we have space for them, although I'd advise getting tutorials in asap.
