I looked at their site and found the privacy policy [1] a bit too liberal in some regards. Gotten curious, I looked at the Travelodge UK Wikipedia article [2] where I found the section about their booking policy [3] interesting. The help page [4] (sections "What is overbooking?" and "What happens if it becomes necessary for my reservation to be outbooked") details this. In particular, the text speaks of refunding, so you might not get the room, even if you have already paid for it. So if you book a room there, try to arrive early, even if you paid in advance. I don't know if it makes a difference if you call them early on the day of your arrival to assure them that you're indeed coming.
