In fact now that I've had some sleep I'd recommend the OP to take a look at https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=570438 since it's an LDAP-related problem I reported in February which Srini gave me a lot of help with (hint: turn off spam address checking on slow remote LDAP servers) > More information is never a bad thing.
