That is such a hard question...even if you have stash, you have bought it at
some point and if you were to use it up...you would have to buy more.
Spinning something up for someone is another hard problem.

A couple of months ago I put up some small skeins of yarn for sale on my
local NZ x TradeMe and someone emailed a question that basically asked "is
that all?" and yes it was "ALL" but the starting price probably seemed
rather high! It wasn't it was a 23micron Merino Top that I had handspun (not
from raw but still handspun) I try to make sure I do not sell yarn at the
price I would pay for something commercial out of the bargain bin.

This is where things start to go 'off edge' with people who do not
understand what commercial machinery versus the handspinners manual machine!

Here in NZ there are now a lot of people raising alpaca and there are
numerous people asking for their 'alpaca' to be spun but usually my Guild
advises them to 'learn to spin' themselves. After that we rarely see them
again...I suppose they find someone willing to work for tuppence! But it
doesn't help those of us who want to create a business from handspun yarns.

Who has just plied up a couple of bobbins of 23micron random dyed top which
I am going to overdye into sea tones sometimes, has got out another project
of very fine merino blended with some silk which is on my 1945 Hamilton
wheel. I am trying to be craftsperson each w/end instead of forgetting my
core craft...
