Oh, I thought that's what you meant by "disable color changes under the cursor".

Sorry, I guess I am still missing something.  I thought that currently
when the cursor is over a character, the matching character has a
colored background.  I was suggesting that instead the foreground
should be colored.  Since usually the cursor has a colored backgorund,
you would know which one is the cursor.  The character under the
cursor would be colored with the same foreground color as its matching
character, so you can tell that they are matching. The cursor has a
colored background in all terminal emulators (and terminals) that I
have seen.
