You are not going to get the throughput with any USB to FW adapter.

The motherboard is still available, but it's not cheap.   Neal Campbell, K3NC 
may be able to point you in the direction of an alternative.

Is there a USB to Firewire adapter that anyone has used successfully with a 
Flex 5000?  I'm trying to replace the computer in my 5000C with a mint ITX 
board.  The board will fit and everything else seems OK except that it has no

Only thing to add to all the comments that have already been posted is that the 
KX3 is a much better CW rig, if like me CW is your mode of choice.
