Your best solution would be to get a PCI or PCIe firewire board with a known working chipset (TI, I think), and install it in an unused slot in the motherboard.

Hi all,
Is there a USB to Firewire adapter that anyone has used successfully with a Flex
000? I'm trying to replace the computer in my 5000C with a mint ITX board.
he board will fit and everything else seems OK except that it has no firewire
vailable.
Thanks

There is an article on electronic T/R switch in the April, 1993 issue #48 of ER
agazine that answers a lot of the questions in this thread....

Only thing to add to all the comments that have already been posted is that the
X3 is a much better CW rig, if like me CW is your mode of choice.

  Hi,

I have narrowed down to either a Flex 3000 or Elecraft KX3 for DX'ing and SDR
ith my MacBook Air.

Does anyone have experience with the KX3 rig and how it stacks up against the
lex 3000?

  Thank you,

  Craig
