Melchior - thanks for this, I appreciate the help. Unfortunately (in one
way) it does the same thing. However, if it works for you, it does at least
indicate that the problem is not in SG.

Thanks also Andy for your message ref telling FG where SG is. I've been
doing this - in fact three ways, with references to /lib (libraries)
/include (make) and /source (original download). However, in an email back
on 3 Aug 03 Melchior wrote that putting the pathname in will not necessarily
result in the computer knowing where the 'real' SG is.

But during 'make' FG checks for 0.3.4 or later and finds it. Which indicates
that it is not getting confused (??). Also, as you will see from the error
message, it seems to be referring to the correct installation. I have also
searched the machine (admittedly, via Konqueror as I don't know the command
line search) for *simgear* and found no other installation. I have also
tried searching for sg_geodesy.cxx with the same result - apparently only
one installation on /usr/local/.. lib ..include and ..source (orig
download).

The original error message is below:

test-up.o(.text+0xc2): In function `main':
/usr/local/source/CVS_FlightGear-1-Aug-03/source/tests/test-up.cxx:31:
undefined reference to `sgGeodToGeoc(double const&, double const&, double*,
double*)'
test-up.o(.text+0x164): In function `main':
/usr/local/include/simgear/math/point3d.hxx:283: undefined reference to
`sgGeodToGeoc(double const&, double const&, double*, double*)'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [test-up] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory
`/usr/local/source/CVS_FlightGear-1-Aug-03/source/tests'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

The exact same message is appearing this time, except that the directory
names are slightly different to suit the new build.

Last time I eventually managed to fix the problem by deleting the distro
SimGear and reloading FG main.cxx.

This has not worked this time - yet.

Next question could be - how to find out (command line) whether there is any
other version of SG present anywhere?

Any other ideas ??

R

By the way - if anybody knows why Kmail will not allow me to send mail via
my ISP - insists it cannot log me on, though can recieve perfectly well -
they could let me know as I have to reboot into Windows to write!
