It was called the Deck Landing ASI :-) IIRC. Judging by some reports, the
Seahawk was probably one of the easiest, if not the easiest, jet to deck
land before the current era of auto-land etc.

It's certainly easier than I expected - the approach speed is nice and low, and there's acres of deck to aim for - obviously you want to hit the bit with the wires, but at least you ca see what you should be aiming for.


I've just had a thought.... presumably now the ground cache code has been added it would be possible to have a carrier with a ski jump for the harrier model? That opens up another "interesting" area of deck operations.
