Hallo, [Spokeshave] > Ralph: How about a crooked knife? A very helpful and versatile tool. Both tools have advantages and disadvantages. A fine tuned spokeshave with a narrow mouth, eliminates the risk of splintering because the edge of the mouth in front of the cutting edge always breaks the shaving. A knife is quite more free in its use. It is carving. And this tool is simple. I like both. But I always enjoy this easy non-tiring way of moving both arms with a spoke shave. I flows.
