The more newbie help the better... I - for one - certainly appreciate it. On the fossil files in or out of the project directory, I suspect most of the cases Stephen and others have had with mangling/deleting fossil db files could be obviated (on Linux and Mac OS X) by calling the fossil file something like .fossil so wild cards don't match.
