I didn't really understand your message. I was not asking for any change to the way fossil works. I was only asking if it was possible to ignore executables. If it was I would set whatever setting was needed and live with the consequences. It does seem surprising to me that this is not a much requested capability. But then again I do about 1% of my development on UNIX and 99% elsewhere so a lot of things in UNIX seem strange to me and I probably miss the point a lot.
