Based on the path name (/media/...) it looks like you may have the repo on
a USB disk. Can you try it on a hard drive (e.g. a vfat partition which
both linux and windows can access, possibly on an external USB drive)? USB
sticks have, in my experience, a bad habit of flaking out when least
expected. (i learned the hard way many years ago not to use them as a
CVSROOT.)

The behaviour you're reporting has never ever ever been reported before
(ever), which makes me suspect flaky storage.
