OK, let me explain in more detail, otherwise someone may think I did not pay attention to previous posts. Yes, we discussed the topic last year, because "FDAPM APMDos" was interfering with the CAD program DESI-III. Thanks to those posts I adopted option "FDAPM ADV:REG", which is still in my table-top FDAUTO.BAT. However, what was new for me today was the tremendous impact that processor overheating has on portables. I spent more than 2 full days trying to figure out why hundreds of corrupted files would appear for no apparent reason -- and in *two* notebooks. It was that bad. What happened was, I had stopped using FDAPM with the portables after finding that it was interfering with Bret Johnson's USB keyboard driver. Hence the overheating. It is too early to say if overheating was indeed the only cause of file corruption. All I can say is, after copying thousands of files to the notebooks today, DosFsCk did not detect anything wrong. Apparently the problem is solved, and I am happy about that :-) Greetings from Brazil, Marcos ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Start uncovering the many advantages of virtual appliances and start using them to simplify application deployment and accelerate your shift to cloud computing http://p.sf.net/sfu/novell-sfdev2dev _______________________________________________ Freedos-user mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/freedos-user
