They are rare, but not unheard of. I have an OTC version of FRBAmericanCursive. The AFDKO (Adobe Font Developer Kit for OpenType), which is an open source set of command line tools used in font development, has a script called `otf2otc`. You can use it to combine multiple OpenType fonts into a single OpenType font.
