My guess would be something on your idle bar is causing the problem, for example the idle bar weather plug-in does this to me if it can't contact the website.
I do have the weather idlebar plugin, but it is working fine and can get to the server? Does it check w/ the server every button press??, that can't be right.
It is very slow for almost everything that I hit a button for. I will try w/o this when I get home, and thanks for the pointer.
