Henry George failed to acknowledge the difference between inherited privilege and earned privilege (by work), patents belonging to the latter. Only the former should be illegitimate. The real answer to biopiracy is to abolish genetic tinkering, at least in agriculture. And the real answer to Gates is to abolish (or not introduce) software patents and outlaw the corporate theft that made him the richest entrepreneur.
