Category: None Group: None >Status: Closed Resolution: None Priority: 7 Private: No Submitted By: biochemza (biochemza) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Privacy: block IMs from anyone not on buddy list Initial Comment: In Yahoo messenger, I am able to ignore all messages from people not on my buddy list. This is really useful, as I sometimes get messages from arbitrary people claiming to be in my area, wanting to be "friends", who usually end up being perverts of some kind. I still get messages informing me of their requests to be added to my buddy list, but they can't actually chat to me before I approve them. It would be really useful if GAIM included a feature like this, because really, I'm not interested in chatting to people I don't know. :) Thanks ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Luke Schierer (lschiere) Date: 2007-04-20 11:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=28833 Originator: NO As we are closing this tracker, please submit any feature request that is still valid to http://developer.pidgin.im. Thanks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Anil (akommare) Date: 2005-04-02 23:22 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1112627 When I remove a buddy from the buddy list and in the Privacy settings set the option to allow only users in the buddy list, the incoming messages are ignored, but my presence is still shown to the removed buddy. It would be nice if the presence notifications are not sent to people not on the buddy list (if in fact the notifications are being sent from the Gaim client). If Yahoo is sending the notifications from the server side, then it would be nice to support their 'stealth' feature, where I can selectively not show my presence to some buddies. Thanks - Anil. . ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Blitzkrieg (blekkazzen) Date: 2005-03-30 14:43 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1249769 Under Tools>Privacy, you can change who can see you online/send you messages. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=350235&aid=1172410&group_id=235 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by DB2 Express Download DB2 Express C - the FREE version of DB2 express and take control of your XML.
