I found it.

The IP for the machine is referenced in the hosts file as "cn_server"
with the ip of the machine in it for application functionality. Any
ideas on how I can "fool" gmond?

Subject: [Ganglia-general] gmond sending wrong hostname

All,

I have a gmond client that sends some strange name to the web frontend
as it's hostname.

When I type hostname at the prompt the server knows it's own name.

Where is the gmond client getting the server name from?
