I think he might be talking about the spiders and others bots that are taking email addresses from this list and sending them to spam companies. My old email address was bombarded with spam after joining and I didn't know why since I had never had any spam prior. So I created a new email address strictly for this mailing list and I already have some spam. So far it isn't too bad.
