No I have not had any errors.  When xfs everything is fine it indexes the
font dir but when I go into kde the font is not available as far as I can
tell.

        Are you getting any errors from xfs? That might help. I haven't
played around with that font, but I have had errors with other fonts and
the error log has helped me greatly.

I am trying to install the slickbar theme for SuperKaramba and am
running into the problem of the CaptainPodd.ttf font not showing up.  I
have read the docs on the gentoo site and have searched throught the
forums only to be confused.  Could someone point me in the right
direction.  What I have done so far:

Moved CaptainPodd.ttf to the /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/trutype directory
Renamed CaptainPodd.ttf to captainpodd.ttf restarted xfs restarted the
Xserver

and no luck can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
