Hi,
I didn't use mysql for a while and it has stopped working! I try and
start it and all I get is
tux ~ # /etc/init.d/mysql status
* status: stopped
tux ~ # /etc/init.d/mysql start
* Starting mysqld (/etc/mysql/my.cnf) ...
..... * MySQL NOT started, proceding anyway
[ ok ]
tux ~ # /etc/init.d/mysql status
* status: started
tux ~ # /etc/init.d/mysql restart
* Stopping mysqld (/etc/mysql/my.cnf) ...
[ !! ]
tux ~ # mysql -u root
ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2)
This is most annoying! I have not modified anything (though have been
trying to install rt and some other trouble ticket systems) but it seems
pretty dead. A remerge did nothing.
Any pointers?
