When I was using it back in ~2008, it was working. However, freenx seems to be an abandoned project, no update since 2008 (http://sourceforge.net/projects/freenx.berlios/files/?source=navbar). ArchWiki suggests to use x2go instead (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/FreeNX).
