I did an emerge pam but am still getting this error:

Can anyone help me get around this? Is it possibly worth compiling openssh without pam support to avoid this error?

I can see from this that the complaint is that libpam is missing but
what do I emerge to get libpam installed?

qpkg -f /usr/lib/libpam.so
sys-libs/pam *
