This is probably overkill (but awfully darn convenient when editing
many remote files).

shfs ( http://shfs.sf.net ) and fuse sshfs (
http://fuse.sf.net/sshfs.html ) allow mounting remote filesystems
using only ssh.  Of the two, I prefer shfs since it allows following
remote symlinks with the -stable option.
