Run ifconfig without any extra instructions.  Look at the section titles
ppp0 and look for 'inet addr:' on the second line.  Of course this is
presuming you're dialled in at the time.  If you run:

nslookup [your IP address]

You'll see the hostname there.  If you have DNS set up right you'll see
the name and IP of the DNS server and the name and IP of your machine
under it.  For example, I use localhost as my DNS server, so when I run
nslookup on my own IP I get:

[iarwain@rigor iarwain]$ nslookup 63.248.56.17
Server:  localhost
Address:  127.0.0.1

Name:    3ff83811.dsl.flashcom.net
Address:  63.248.56.17
[iarwain@rigor iarwain]$

No problem.  I'm still trying to find the perfect desktop configuration
of Linux... so many choices... so little USB support...

pretty much.  If you're using TIAC/PSI for your SMTP (outgoing) email
server, you don't need to run an SMTP server on your machine.
